“The exfoliator was a bland cream colour. The cleanser was an off white colour with a hint of green.The toner was a green colour. The face mask was also a green colour with a hint of white.There wasn’t a distinctive smell from the homemade products but the exfoliator smelled like porridge *hint* there was porridge oats in it. Compared to shop bought products personally I think the homemade products were better because we knew exactly what was being put into the exfoliator, toner, cleanser and face mask”

Giving a new lease of life to a once loved piece of furniture🎨👍🌺🚪
The TY home economics were busy being thrifty and nifty today giving the tables a quirky new face lift down in 6th year Kitchen, here in St Dominic’s Secondary School Ballyfermot. Upcycling school furniture can increase its value in the eyes of the students and make it more attractive. Painting or decoupaging furniture is a clever way to cover unsightly “autographs” that have been left on the tables over the years✏️✒️! The fondest of memories are gathered around the table, or a tin of paint and brushes ♥
1. Clear the room of all tables, chairs, decorations, light and equipment that can be moved.
2.Move anything that can’t be removed into the middle of the room and cover it in plastic or old sheets to protect against splatters of paint.
3.Remove any cobwebs or dust.
4.Put paper or sheets on the floor.
5.Fill in any nail holes, hairline cracks and sand down afterwards.
6.Clean the walls and surfaces that will be painted with sugar soap or fairy liquid and warm water.
7.Cut in about 3cm from the ceiling and skirting boards with matching color.
8.Tape off light switches edges of areas that will not be painted (press, windows, woodwork, floor, ceiling to protect them form getting splattered.
9.Read the tin of paint before starting, to see how long it will need to dry.

11.Remove masking tape and complete touch ups.
12. wait for paint to dry, clean up your area.

Sometimes there are things in the world we cannot change, but it’s amazing how making some changes to the environment in which we are in everyday can really create and increase opportunities to succeed and participate to our full potential. I’m now introducing our new height adjustable kitchen unit. The Home Economics department are delighted with their gift from the “fairy pumpkin godmother” over midterm break, just in time for the extreme makeover taking place this Saturday! The transition year students have a busy few days ahead of them, washing down walls, covering units and organising a smooth fun filled Saturday afternoon in school, with the help of family and friends. Paint brushes at the ready “please excuse the mess.. we build memories here.

Delegation , direction, communication, reliability, active participation, cooperation, flexibility are only a few key ingredients that bind a team together.
