Thank you to all the TY students who did themselves proud in the kitchen today for their TY presentation night. The students recently took part in a cake decorating workshop with Selena’s Creations and designed a cake which was inspired by their best moments in Transition Year. “A little bit of good food puts you in a good mood”

We launched our TY Artisan Market in school today. Students developed a range of unique and innovative new food products as part of ‘The Future is Food’ Transition Year Unit that was developed by The Taste Council in collaboration with Bord Bia. A core element of the programme is that the school is matched with a local food producer or food professional, who will mentor the students during the initial stages of the food project. We are extremely grateful to Rathmullan House, in particular Chef Micheál Harley who paid us a visit a few weeks ago to give advice to students on their food project. Loreto Milford Bake Off Final

Our very different but brilliantly talented bakers arrived in the kitchen for the last time this morning, with barely anything to separate them except their workbench, ovens and a gigantic dollop of fate. Chloe Kerr (3rd year) and Cora Ferry (4th year) with their incredible imagination and baking skills were crowned the winners of the Loreto Milford Bake Off, and it was richly deserved by both.
