“Take CTRL” Junk Kouture entry
Dress number two
What inspired the girls?
We live in an age where we are encouraged to follow rather than tread your own path . The connectivity of the tutu layers symbolise the multi level of cyber talk. Tap on the letters to symbolise the power of the message. Ripped and pleated rows tell us how flimsy cyber chat can be and how disposable truth is. The colours melting signify the ‘melting pot’ that the cyber era that we live in has become. The cable hangs loosely around the model’s neck, a reminder of how easily we can be plugged or unplugged.

St Dominic’s Secondary School’s junk kouture entry- fingers crossed!
Take a look at our Junk Kouture entry this year “A tell tale heart” here in St Dominic’s Secondary Ballyfermot. Up until recently mental health was considered a subject of taboo, the newspaper was a core feature of our design in order to demonstrate the power of media to influence optimism and fear. The layers within the petticoat symbolise the layers of resilience and protective factors for optimistic mental health. The blind represents control over dark and light. The belt, made form plastic bottles is a symbol of how disposable life can be.

1st year Home Economics JCSP cross- curricular presentation
Ladies as part of your JCSP project I would like you to research the following areas in relation to the Celts.
What they wore?
Where did they source their raw materials that they used to make their clothes?
How did they dye their clothes?
What did they use as make up? Mac? Rimmel?
Who were the trend setters of the era? Did they wear Nike air force or Adidas superstar runners like you do today?
Looking forward to seeing the final celtic inspired headbands http://www.lovestitched.com/my-tutorial/knotted-jersey-headband-tutorial/
