Loreto Bake off day 3

It was another successful day for our bakers. Today our bakers’ creations included chocolate surprise cake, marble chocolate cake, red velvet cupcakes, lemon meringue pie, ferrero rocher cupcakes, Victoria sponge and a Frozen themed birthday cake. Comhghairdeas libh go léir.

‘Tis the season of self-indulgence!  A Yule log is a perfect Christmas treat, easy to make and suitable for any xmas party. The transition year students did great work today.

Experimenting with Lipids and looking at their properties 

 4th year S&S were busy this afternoon examining the properties of lipids and looking at the difference between an oil based muffin, butter and margarine.  Furthermore we looked at rancidity, emulsions,  melting points, smoke point and flash points and solubility.
